To learn about the history of the Holocaust, visit the Holocaust Museum in Los Angeles CA. This museum features a permanent exhibit on the Sobibor Extermination camp, one of six major Nazi death camps. The Sobibor Extermination camp was part of Operation Reinhard, a Nazi plan to exterminate all the Jews of Poland. Survivor Thomas Blatt built a model of the Sobibor Extermination camp from his own memory, which is permanently on display at the Holocaust Museum LA. The model includes a video screen on which his testimony is played. Blatt was part of the 250 prisoners that planned to escape the Sobibor camp, but only 50 survived. Visitors can also see the Children’s Memorial, which contains over one million holes. Survivors and rescuers can write messages of hope and courage on the trees. The museum also features exhibits on life in Jewish communities before WWII, including photographs and different household artifacts. The Children’s Memorial building has won numerous awards, including the Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Commission Design Honor Award and the Green Building Design Award. The interior and exterior architecture of the building reflect the harrowing history of the Holocaust.

A group of Holocaust survivors founded the Holocaust Museum LA in 1961. The survivors met while attending an English-as-second language class at Hollywood High School. They discussed how important it was to remember their lost family members, as well as to educate future generations about the horrors of the Nazis. The survivors discovered that many had preserved artifacts from the concentration camps, and they decided that these precious treasures needed a permanent home. The museum is free and open to the public.

Aside from its exhibits, visitors can also enjoy the institute’s freakshows and bizarre sideshows. Visitors can view a mummified clown in a glass coffin. You can visit the Holocaust Museum LA by car or by taking public transportation. The museum is located near the Pan Pacific Park, in Mid-City West. You can drive to MAMMOTH from any direction, but it is easiest to get here by car. Take the 101 Freeway to Fairfax Avenue North. From here, take The Grove Drive. There is metered parking available. If you’d rather take public transportation, you can also take the Metro to the museum.

If you’re looking for an open-air museum, you can also check out Heritage Square Museum. This museum is surrounded by Victorian-style buildings that were constructed between the 1850s and the 1950s. Their elegance reflects a classy sense of style. These buildings were originally destroyed in the 1960s, but were saved by the Cultural Heritage Foundation of Southern California.
